Make your controller react to your PC games
The haptics, the adaptive triggers, the lights and gyro aim follow what happens in the game. Bururu is a free app that drives a DualSense, DualShock 4 or Xbox controller itself, on a cable or on Bluetooth.
Bururu finds your games and sets up the controller for each one by itself. Games get their effects from mods.
Coming soon to Steam, for Windows, Linux and macOS. Free, with no feature behind a paywall and no account needed.
Your controller
Bururu drives each of these itself, with what that controller has. On a Mac it drives only the DualSense, for now.
DualSense
The adaptive triggers, HD haptics, the lightbar, the LEDs and gyro aim, on the USB cable and on Bluetooth. The DualSense Edge too.
DualShock 4
The lightbar, the two rumble motors and gyro aim, on the cable, on Bluetooth or with Sony's USB wireless adapter. Both models.
Xbox controllers
Xbox One and Series controllers on a cable, on Bluetooth or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter, Xbox 360 controllers, and pads made like them. The effects play on their two rumble motors.
What it does
A game's mod, or the game itself, decides what the controller does and when. Bururu sends it to the controller.
Adaptive triggers
On a DualSense the triggers push back, click or go loose to match what you hold or drive in the game.
Haptics
Short vibrations for what happens in the game, such as a hit or a landing. A DualSense plays them as HD haptics, on Bluetooth too.
Lightbar and LEDs
The lightbar colour and the player LEDs can show what is going on in the game.
Gyro aim
Turn a DualSense or DualShock 4 to aim, like a mouse, on Windows and Linux. Calibrating it takes two seconds on the desk.
Sets up each game
Bururu finds the games on your PC and offers the mod that adds their effects. On Windows it also picks the controller each game should see.
Where the effects come from
Games get their effects from a mod, or from their own DualSense support.
A mod reads what the game already shares: its log files, its key bindings, the screen, its sound on Windows 11 and, in some games, telemetry. On Windows, and only for offline games with no anti-cheat, a mod may also read the game's memory, but never write to it. No mod changes a game's files. Before a mod reads anything, Bururu shows you what it asks for.
Games that support the DualSense themselves keep their own trigger effects and haptics. On the cable they read your DualSense as it is. On Bluetooth on Windows, for most of these games, Bururu shows the game a DualSense on a cable and passes it all on to yours.
Every mod in the list has its source on GitHub, so you can read what it does, and download it to install by hand if you like. Anyone can make one with a text editor.
Getting started
Install Bururu from Steam once it is out. Put it on your wishlist now, and Steam tells you when.
Start Bururu and connect your controller. Most controllers need nothing more. A DualSense on Bluetooth on Windows needs two free drivers, which Bururu installs once you say yes.
Install the mods Bururu offers for your games.
Start the game. Bururu sees it and sets up the controller for it.
